Master Biscuit

Boredom on all fronts.

I'm not entirely sure what to make of the entertainment industry lately. When my life boils down to the excitement produced by the release date of a music CD, a suggested lack in gaming strikes fear into my soul. Will my PS2 die? Will Gamecube ever truly have more than 3 playable games?

I know, at this point, every person in America has seen Episode III. Frankly, while I was mildly entertained and overall satisfied, I was not impressed. So much could have been presented better, so much could have been not changed (as it was originally written...). If you want to enjoy the movie just a bit more (and get to actually see and play the Temple Jedi fight), grab the Episode III game. Graphically, I noticed no difference between the PS2 and Xbox, so knock yourself out on that choice.

I don't feel completely comfortable admitting this, but Donkey Konga 2 for the Gamecube (complete with Kongas!) is mind-numbingly fun. You pound that fucking bongo (konga, damn you) and that monkey runs and jumps and beats things. Quite frankly, I think I was possessed for some time. This game requires the skill of an infant suckling a teet, but it's shiny. Shiiiiny.

I'm sure many of you are aware of the Firefly movie, the series created by Joss Whedon that had a rather short run on Fox. I have never personally seen the series, but a friend has just delivered it into my arms, so for all my concerned and altogether nerdy friends, I will join you soon.

PC.

...I don't play PC games, but apparently, Guild Wars is cool. That is all.

Music.

And this is what I was talking about before. I can ramble on about music for the rest of this page, because while CDs are hitting the shelves, I think the next big game release that I give a flying donkey fuck about is sometime in August (the new Legend of Zelda game...god, those graphics are amazing).

So the Wallflowers are back. You remember that band from the mid-90s that you heard in middle school? Yeah. They're back. If you enjoyed their sound back then, you'll be delighted to know that it has not been altered in any way, shape, or form, which is somewhat refreshing, as it's occasionally a bother to hear a band revamp the style you originally fell in love with. The new CD is titled "Rebel, Sweetheart" and is just a new drop of that original Wallflowers melancholy. Check it out if that's your cup of tea.

Audioslave fans unite, the new one's out. While it is Chris Cornell, and while he does have one of the most unique voices in music, the new CD doesn't really deliver any serious punches. The songs are okay, but they're not great. Two or three songs will be singles in the next couple of months, and the rest are somewhat filler, much like the first CD. But hey, it's Chris Cornell...he doesn't have to impress you.

Seether's new CD "Karma and Effect" is an amazing Emo trip into one of the best rock albums of that style this year. It has a captivating, harmonic sound that could possibly be compared to A Perfect Circle. The single "Remedy" has been on the radio for a few weeks now, and don't be surprised to hear "The Gift" soon. It's possibly the best song they've ever produced.

Speaking of A Perfect Circle, Maynard fans will be happy to know that Tool's new album has an August release scheduled.

Finally, Oasis crawled out of the dark this week with "Don't Believe the Truth." Well, the truth is, this CD may or may not be worth your time. If you're a hardcore Oasis fan, you probably just appreciate their British vocals. Don't get me wrong, so do I, but this CD fails to deliver on any memorable hits, like "Wonderwall" or "Champagne Supernova." None of the new songs carry that kind of emotion. "Lyla" is the single that's been on the radio. It's a good tune, but it ends there. Only true Oasis fans need apply.

That's all for music news. Coldplay's new album hits stores this coming Tuesday, and Sevendust has something planned for a late-summer release. This rock news has been brought to you by all the time I spend at Best Buy. Thousands of possibilities, get yours. Best Buy.

In my empty void of gaming, I found that May Payne 2 has dropped to nothing more than $10, so I've been playing that lately. I think I've got the PS1 classic Final Fantasy Anthology to fool around with afterward. Look for new games this summer: Geist (German words are scary!) for the Gamecube in June/July, don't waste your time with Black Hawk Down next week (worthless! PC version was better), Killzone 2 later this summer, and the new Legend of Zelda this August. I'll be back with more when someone produces something of worth that I feel compelled to purchase. Suggestions are absolutely welcome.
